Welcome (again) to Stroke30!
My name is Katie. I had a cerebellum stroke on May 3, 2016, and my 3 year anniversary is tomorrow! I started Stroke30 soon after my stroke to share my story and help others know they’re not alone. Providing education and resources in one place was also important to me.
I began by sharing a couple of posts that included a stroke survivor story with their caregiver side. It didn’t pan out because it became difficult for me to find people who wanted to share their story; they didn’t necessarily want to relive it.
Later I found out I was pregnant... talk about a surprise! Thank you neuroplasticity. My doctors tried their best to coordinate my medical care (I know, almost unheard of!). Studies no longer wanted me to participate and rehabilitation became trickier. To say the least, I felt overwhelmed. I decided to put the brakes on Stroke30 and come back to it when I could be more active posting and updating the site.
Well, I am back! I plan to share lots including recent events, articles, mommy-hood, and other stroke survivor stories (if they’ll let me!) along with different experiences I’ve encountered since my stroke.
I hope these blogs inspire stroke survivors to keep pushing to improve -the sky is the limit.
